Early Talk Boost has been designed by ICAN and the training is an ICAN accredited course, delivered by one of our very own expert Speech and Language therapists. Early Talk Boost is a targeted intervention aimed at 3-4-year-old children with delayed language development, boosting their language skills to help narrow the gap between them and their peers. Evidence has shown that after the Early Talk Boost intervention, children make statistically significant progress in their early language. On average they make 6 months progress after a nine-week intervention helping them to catch up with other children their age. This is twice the amount of progress of children not having the intervention. This workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge to understand the rationale behind Early Talk Boost, an overview of SLCN and which areas of SLCN can be supported by Early Talk Boost, identify appropriate children, measure their progress and deliver the intervention successfully.
How will I benefit from this course?
Who is this course ideal for?
The ICAN Early Talk Boost training course is for staff that will be delivering the Early Talk Boost programme within your setting. We recommend training 2 members of staff to enable the running of more than one group at a time or so that staff may further support each other in the provision of this programme. As such this course is perfect for education and childcare professionals, such as teachers, teaching assistants, SENCO’s, and inclusion managers. We would not advise training any individual who will not be delivering the programme themselves.
Where will the course take place?
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our training courses will be taking place online via Google Meets. All relevant support information for accessing the course will be sent out to attendees prior to the workshop.
