Our in-house training workshop, Identifying and Supporting Children with SLCN, aims to provide an overview of how Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) can develop and present in children, the impacts on children’s learning in the school environment and what you can do to support students with SLCN in your setting. Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) are the most common primary area of need for pupils with SEND at 23%. In some areas of deprivation, at least 50% of children and young people have SLCN and with 81% of children with emotional and behavioural disorders have unidentified language difficulties. Our training course will be led by ChatterBug Founding Director and Consultant Speech and Language Therapist Asma Khanum, this workshop forms a great foundation for understanding SLCN and supporting staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Asma has worked in the education sector for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, including working with the NHS, schools and private Speech and Language Therapy.
