This workshop will introduce you to a range of visual supports and when/how they may be beneficial to the children you work with. It will provide you practical strategies and ideas that you can implement in your setting to support children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The most common type of SEN in schools is SLCN which 24% of children with SEN falling under this category (DfE, 2020). This training will introduce you to a range of visual supports and approaches. You will learn about how and why visuals can be used to support children with SLCN to communicate, understand what they are being asked and develop independence.

Our Using Visuals to Support Communication, is perfect for education and childcare professionals, such as teachers, teaching assistants and SENCO’s. The course is also suitable for speech and language therapists, undergraduate and post graduate students who are undertaking a degree in the field and looking for support and more information.
Where will the course take place?
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our training courses will be taking place online via Google Meets. All relevant support information for accessing the course will be sent out to attendees prior to the workshop.
