About Us
ChatterBug is a social enterprise dedicated to helping children develop their communication skills. We continuously seek ways in which we can make a difference to the lives of those with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Communication is central to all that we do and those who struggle with poor communication skills at a young age are at risk of underachieving and experiencing poor mental health/well-being. Through our dynamic and innovative approach to communication difficulties, we help a range of people, including children, young adults, parents, schools, and adults with SLCN.
We are made up of a passionate team of speech and language therapists who specialise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of paediatric language and communication difficulties and it is their flexible and bespoke approach to treatments that achieves real results for our clients.
All of our therapists are registered members of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Private Practise (ASLTIP), Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
We have built a reputation for delivering high quality, evidence-based services that provide real results. Our dynamic social enterprise takes a flexible and innovative approach to communication difficulties, providing vital support for children, as well as parents and teachers.

2008
Our History
ChatterBug was formed in 2008 in response to the unmet need for Speech and Language services – especially for those from less privileged backgrounds. Founder and Managing Director Asma Khanum had first hand experience of the poor quality of local provisions, as both a patient and an NHS speech therapist. Between the long wait times and the poor communication between service providers and patients, Asma was determined to prove there was a better way.
In 2009, ChatterBug was set up as an independent organisation in Leeds and started accepting our first private clients. By 2012, we became a limited company and were able to explore more ways of working, including working directly with schools to support families who may not have access to private support. ChatterBug continued to grow, with further expansions to the service across other areas of the UK, including Leicester, Scarborough and providing the NHS services in Halton, Cheshire.
Now, we continue to support these areas, and beyond; with our Telehealth service allowing us to reach families and educators across the UK and even abroad.
