Why you should…
DLD is predicted to affect 7% of children and young people in the general population. This is more common than Autism. However, DLD is not as widely known about. There is no known single cause of DLD, but it has a significant, life-long effect on children causing them to struggle to understand and use spoken language. Children with DLD are hard to identify and will struggle to access education, however, their difficulties do not have to define them, as many can do well academically with the right support. Difficulties with language can leave children with DLD far behind their peers at school resulting in education being much more challenging from the beginning. However, research shows staff trained in identifying and supporting children with DLD can significantly lessen the educational gap.

Our training courses are perfect for education and childcare professionals, such as teachers, teaching assistants, and SENCO’s. The course is also suitable for speech and language therapists and student SLTs.
