About the role

Chatterbug is an ambitious social enterprise delivering speech and language therapy services, training and technology to children and young people. As we scale our services, partnerships and digital offer, we are strengthening the operational systems, processes and capability needed to grow well and deliver consistently.

We are looking for an experienced Business Operations & Performance Coordinator to help us turn priorities into action, improve visibility across the business and make sure work moves through to completion.

This is a hands-on, cross-business role for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, improving how things work and using systems and automation to reduce unnecessary manual activity.

You will work closely with our COO and CEO, line manage our Business Support Officer and Office Administrator, and coordinate across teams including Clinical, Customer Success, Finance & HR, Marketing, Commercial and Product/Development.

Importantly, this role has been designed with a clear development pathway towards Operations Manager as Chatterbug grows.

Your first priorities

  • Create clear ownership, deadlines and follow-through across key business priorities and projects.
  • Strengthen KPI and performance visibility so senior leaders can quickly see what is on track, what is at risk and what needs a decision.
  • Identify recurring manual or inconsistent processes that can be standardised, improved or automated.

Key responsibilities:

Business performance and coordination

  • Coordinate business priorities, KPIs, projects, risks and key operational actions.
  • Follow up on missing information, blockers and overdue actions across teams.
  • Maintain visibility of service delivery, capacity, workforce, commercial activity and contract risks.
  • Produce concise operational updates for senior leadership.
  • Coordinate key meetings so agendas focus on performance, decisions and actions.

Team, systems and improvement

  • Line manage and develop the Business Support Officer and Office Administrator.
  • Work closely with the Finance & HR Executive on operational deadlines and reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-business projects and improvement activity.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate recurring work.
  • Own operational complaints requiring investigation, judgement or cross-team coordination.
  • Help embed reliable processes so routine work happens consistently without unnecessary senior-leader involvement.

About you:

You will have experience in operations, project coordination, service delivery, business support or another cross-functional role where you have been responsible for making sure work actually happens.

You will be confident working with incomplete information, coordinating across teams and following issues through to completion.

  • Experience working with KPIs, management information or performance reporting.
  • Experience improving processes and ways of working.
  • Experience supervising or line managing support staff.
  • Strong digital skills, including spreadsheets and business systems.
  • Sound judgement, organisation and communication.
  • Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information.

Experience in education, healthcare, commissioned services or operational automation would be an advantage.

What we offer

  • 7 weeks’ annual leave, inclusive of public holidays, pro rata.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including a healthcare cash plan, 24/7 GP and counselling support.
  • Group income protection and life assurance, subject to scheme terms.
  • Blue Light Card and retail-discount schemes.
  • The opportunity to help shape how a growing national social enterprise operates and scales.
  • A clear development pathway towards an Operations Manager role.

Recruitment process

  1. CV and short supporting statement.
  2. Short operational coordination/problem-solving task.
  3. Formal panel interview, followed by references and final checks.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a short supporting statement to [email protected]. In your statement, include one example of a time you improved a process, reporting system, or way of working and the outcome achieved.
